Elder Doing Therapy at The Cottages at Texarkana

Therapy & Rehabilitation

The Cottages at Texarkana offers inpatient and outpatient Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy. Following surgery, the most successful recoveries happen during a short stay in a comfortable setting, with onsite therapy and rehab professionals. It’s the best possible scenario because it eliminates scheduling and transportation challenges so elders can focus on healing in a peaceful, relaxed environment.

“Green House residents are 16 percent less likely to be bedridden, 38 percent less likely to have pressure ulcers and 45 percent less likely to have catheters. Avoidable hospitalizations and readmissions are also lower.” American Hospital Association

How Long is Short?

A short stay can last a week, eight weeks, or somewhere in between. It varies depending on the person, the complexity of their medical condition, treatment plan, and ability to heal. A team of medical professionals – doctor, nurse practitioner, director of nursing, MDS coordinator, social services representative, and rehab therapists – meet regularly to strategize how to help the elder recover, be discharged, and return home.

Homecoming…What’s Next?

When it’s time for an elder to return home, our knowledgeable staff can help with all aspects of the transition, including an evaluation of current living conditions and recommendations for modifications and setting up equipment to support safe and comfortable independent living.
